Hello Henry, I did notice the TL-10 and if I recall correctly it had some type of fabric shade on it.
Linking it was a good idea.

Great to see and i remember seeing something similar about someone doing something similar but if i remember correctly they went to London.. at one point they had to attempt to shoe the feet of the bullocks using made up split ’horse shoes’ as of course they have cloven hooves… this didn’t go down at all well with the bullocks or the farrier, with film of the bovine in question pistoning its hind leg backwards and forwards !
great viewing though and it raises thoughts about how they managed to do it back then so the film you showed us was really good, i thought

i think there are some Oxen being used in one of the films in your “Skills of Yesteryear “ series? great to see and perhaps still used in some countries?

Thanks for the positive comments and perhaps the other film which you mentioned was a continuation of the journey by the same people, a cattle drove to London was briefly mentioned in the film.
Oxen were widely used as beasts of burden and perhaps they still are somewhere.

Just watched the 1959 video of Fishing and farming in Aberdeen @JEFF JOHNSON. I suspect that the song on the second item “The Farmer is the man who feeds us all” was sung by John Mearns, a second cousin to my grannie. He was a well known entertainer in the fifties and sixties, more a singer of bothy ballads than true cornkisters. A country loon but his dialect was a wee bit more refined than ours.
