hi, I have recently acquired a veritas 350 in good overall condition, however the wire that pricks the fuel nipple to clean it is broken off,it is actually a screw on attachment on top of the cleaning rod,but where to get one??my question is has anybody come across this problem and found a satisfactory answer,i am wondering if they share any parts in common with lanterns of that era so I could broaden my search, thanks tony.

    Welcome aboard Tony!

That is a common problem and I do not know of anyone who has Veritas 350 prickers, Jeff.

    Hi Tony,

If you have a small enough drill and a steady hand you might be able to drill out the broken piece of wire from the existing screw on attachment and then crimp a new piece of wire in its place. Guitar strings and acupuncture needles can be used as a source of replacement wire.

Hi Tony, glad you're sorted but for others who may have the same problem there's also another way. I used an Optimus 350 needle - the threads fit the rod and the wire clears the jet BUT the brass part is too big so I just filed off the three lobes until the brass was round. Works a treat.

    Henry.
