Come on folks... isn’t this getting a bit childish. It’s not just old blokes that use this site. Tony
@David Shouksmith David, how did you manage to keep your fence from catching fire? Did your neighbors call the fire brigade?
Hahahahaha Those solar panels are beasts, look what they do, caused David’s lamp to flare up into a fireball and then burnt Wim’s neighbour’s fence and rubbish bin. Should be a law against these insidious solar panels. Cheers Pete
Damn, I'm confused... do I buy a Veritas and run the risk of shortening what life I have left, or bite the bullet and go hell bent for leather and buy one?!! Decisions, decisions, always decisions...
@george Bite the bullet. The worse thing about a risk is not taking one. Go for it mate, they’re bloody good lanterns. Cheers Pete
@george if you've got one lined up, just go for it - life's too short for regrets and despite what you might think, they're no more trouble than any other brand, much less so in fact. Lots of us fellow lampies avoided them for years because of their reputation but we now realise they are actually a pretty good lantern, even David's once he's swapped out the generator/vaporiser! I'm not blaming anyone for the bad rap Veritas somehow or other attracted but for me and plenty of others around the world, that myth is dead and buried. Buy a Veritas, get it working, have fun!
Yes, but how many people here would happen to have a replacement NOS vapouriser for a Veritas Superb in their spares box..? Currently, I'm pratting about with a Veritas 350 which has a vapouriser that can be serviced - at least when I get it loose, that is! . However, if the jet's enlarged it could be back to the drawing board. We need a source of replacement part No V67 (I hardly dare mention its name!). What about that Finnish Company Petro Valo Oy (or whatever it was) - did they sell replacements..?
Well I know Austramax (sp?) jets fit the Veritas thread although they have a shoulder that needs to be removed before it'll fit. So what exactly is a V67 in polite parlance?
Mine's blooming aweful! Left to my own devices - I swear I'd end up nocturnal! Anyone else's day slipped like mine?
@ColinG it is what I aspire to. Currently I get up early, only have 40 minutes nap at lunch, then do some night owl ( I've just finished baking bread). Unfortunately my employer is not a fan of a full 2hr lunch!
Ha ha, it's now 2am and I've just finished making 17 century crumpets or pikelets from a recipe I saw on YouTube!
