I have had this for awhile, and was missing some part. a donor found me last week, and I had some time to swap parts today. This lamp has a thumbscrew that will loosen the bottom of the airtube, so the whole upper comes off like a Akron lamp. Runs strong with the genny that was on it. Period shade stolen from another lamp. Has this model been identified? Thanks Darien.
Close Jeff and for years that is the nearest I could get as well but now I am certain and it's model 1200. They are pretty rare because originally they were fitted with an abortion of a generator and pricker arrangement. The design makes me suspect they never worked all that well and the burners were factory or dealer modified to deal with a storm of customer complaints. All the examples I have seen are fitted with a modified burner but we do know of one lantern in this range with the original fittings. Here are some images which will explain. I would like to see a shot of the generator and lower burner casting from this lamp. ::Neil::
Thanks Neil! Thats very interesting stuff. It must be why this lamp didnt have that brass insert into the burner. The donor lamp had the insert pinned in with a role pin.The gen was a regular Q99 on this lamp, and a Q77 on the donor. Heres the old burner that was missing the insert.
Well that is certainly the burner casting from a model 1200. From the image of the lamp that is running it looks like you have the brass insert which is missing the pricker bits. Obviously works OK like that. ::Neil::
