The year in retrospect...We voted in a party that wasted billions. A confirmation of bigger government and bigger government costs.

If you look you'll find another clip on why it's important not to give a F...

More on my X-mas baking later.

It's not just America David, it's the world. What Carlin spoke of is just as applicable to the UK or Europe as America.

We are in the 'open forum' aka the lounge. Lamps might be here, but probably not.

You are right Derek. We are in the Lounge.
But still I fully agree with David in his despair here (my interpretation of his condition, not an actual state of things).

CPL has this far been lucky to not have all the rubbish involving politics and/or religion as we are used to at CCS, and also many other foras.
Perhaps that is about to change. It might be inevitable...
    I hope not.
Let's focus on what most of us hopefully are here for; Lamps and lanterns. [-o<

Well I apologise... Why would I bother as long as my pention keeps coming in right?

I will refrain from further "Political" posts.

Thought the internet was the last forum where people could entertain some critical thinking but I certainly won't drag anyone to it.

Christer, the very fact that there is an area within the forum that allows people to express their thoughts and fears (or dreams) about anything directly unrelated to the main subject - which is amply and excellently accommodated in both CCS & CPL, that 'free space' should either be for members to have free reign - or get rid of it.

If you get rid of it, then you can be sure that free speech is once again stifled. There are plenty of forums that accommodate political and any other so called "off topic" subjects, but the simple fact that here we are - a group of lamp enthusiasts or stove enthusiasts who just happen to live in a world populated and influenced by common causes that are outside of the main subject, and feel the need to share their thoughts and experiences. Why not?

Carling got a lot right as caustic as he may have been. Those that put him down and his thoughts down are just pulling the wool over their - and their colleagues eyes - for fear of seeing the truth for what it really is. You may disagree - that's fine, but give a reason - or simply allow folk to share their thoughts, common or otherwise. A place to speak out is often denied in the main stream media. Your letters are truncated or discarded, and the MSM is controlled to feed you what is designed to steer many peoples fears away from reality - hence 'soaps' and 'celeb' magazines; Britain's Got Talent; X factor and anything else that keeps the couch potatoes sitting comfy.

    It's not politics - it's life.

    Shoppin' and Eatin'
But wait! We do that every day.
