Woke up this morning to a lovely surprise it was this optimus 930 lantern, a fantastic gift from my dad, very happy with it, just needs a new globe as its broken/cracked, should clean up nicely as its the brass finished one. Thanks dad.
Congrats! Those glass cylinders are not easy to get your hands on. The clear ones is still possible to find. Edit: There is a glass from a (for me unknown) Coleman model that fit nicely. Regards from Sweden, birthplace of Optimus

I use amber globes on a couple of Coleman lanterns and I can’t say I don’t like them. Anyway better than no globe in any case
I do not think I have ever been caught suggesting one should polish a brassy, being it a lamp or stove. So in this case I can only admire your effort and skill, which must be considerable, making a brass lamp almost look like it is a chromed lamp. which of course it is not. I do not think the maker(s) went through this much trouble. not to mention the work keeping it that way. So, well done, but perhaps you will consider a lesser effort on a next brass project? That way it should be easier on the workload, might save the crispness of the engraving while radiating the rich hue(s) of brass that to my eye is lacking here. That hue should return automaticly after some time. Of course, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and with that in mind you made an impressive statement. Regards, Mike
